From Qubits to Everyday Life: Why Quantum Technologies Matter to All of Us?
Dr Kondo is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and leads the Experimental Atomic Physics Laboratory (LabAtomo), where he develops atom-based radiation sensors and explores practical applications of quantum mechanical principles.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from São Paulo State University (UNESP) and master’s and doctoral degrees in Atomic and Molecular Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP) in São Carlos, where he investigated quantum mechanical effects on interactions between atoms in exotic states. He conducted postdoctoral research at USP and Durham University in the United Kingdom, developing quantum sensing techniques using atomic samples. His research on terahertz radiation detection includes publications in journals such as Nature Photonics and Nature Communications.
